Dorothy L. King
OWASSO, Okla. – Dorothy Lenora King was born on Aug. 2, 1921, in Frederick, Okla., to L. E. and Agnes (Mosely) Higganbotham.
After living in Oklahoma for many years, she and her husband, John L. King, retired to Murfreesboro, where they created their homestead called Valley of the Kings.
Upon the death of her husband, she moved to Hot Springs, where she continued her civic activities by volunteering for the Area Agency on Aging, Chamber of Commerce and serving on the Board of Directors of Community Counseling for 10 years. She was also very proud of being one of the last World War I widows.
Due to declining health, she moved to Owasso, Okla., to be close to family. She passed away July 2, 2012, and will be buried after a private service at Morning Star Cemetery in Hot Springs.
She is survived by one brother, Edward Higganbotham, of Lawton, Okla., and her children, Donald Lee Nelson, of Memphis, Anna Marie Marsh, of Owasso, Okla., Mary Lou Dillard, of Owasso, Okla., Margaret Lynn Springer, of Oklahoma City, and Jack Todd King, of Bucaramanga, Columbia, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
