Flo Jared, 87, of Hot Springs, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012. She was born Sept. 23, 1924, in Carlisle, Ark., to the late Otha Lavon and Ernestine (Holden) Gunn. Flo taught first grade for 16 years at Langston Elementary and Eastside Elementary in Hot Springs. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and was very active in all church and Sunday school activities for over 40 years. Flo also enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, and quilting.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mickey A. Jared; brothers, Milton Gunn and Otha Lavon Gunn Jr.

Survivors include daughter, Patsy McInturff, of Charleston, Mo.; sons, Don Jared (Donna), of Aurora, Colo., Mike Jared (Theresa), of Hot Springs; daughter, Brenda Holder, of El Dorado; sisters, Jean Vaught, of Hickory Ridge, Ark., Marie Smithers Farrar (Bob), of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Jared officiating.

Interment will follow at Crestview Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Drey Holder, Daniel Holder, Devon Holder, Chad Bullington and Douglas Nelson.

Special friends include Jackie and Teresa Rowton, Clayton and Tammy Rowton, Erlinda Brown, Douglas Nelson, Doyle Jones and “Ikey” the dog.
