SMYRNA, Tenn. – Edward M. “Ed” Janes, age 87, of Smyrna, Tenn., formerly of Hot Springs, Ark., died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012.

He was a native of Horatio, Ark., and was the son of the late, Bud and Dorothy Coffman Janes.

Mr. Janes was a 50-year member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church and owner of Ed Janes Appliance Company in Hot Springs. He was a longtime member of Masonic Lodge 419 and Lion’s Club in Hot Springs. Mr. Janes was an avid traveler after retirement and a faithful member of Good Sam’s Camping Events.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Glenna Benge Janes; children, Edward A. Janes and wife, Patti, of Fort Smith, Karen Carey and husband, Dane, of LaVergne, Debbie Kirk, of Smyrna, Tenn.; grandchildren, Stephani Morrison, of Fort Smith, Shawn Janes, of Waldron, Brooklin Janes, of Hot Springs, Kelly Lee, of Smyrna, Tenn., Jeffrey Carey, Chris Carey, David Carey, all of LaVergne, Cory Kirk, of Texas, Matthew Kirk, of Smyrna, Tenn. and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piney Grove United Methodist Church.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Piney Grove United Methodist Church in Hot Springs.

Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Sunday at the church.
