Harold M. Collie
MALVERN — Harold M. Collie, age 86, of Malvern, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, in the Little Rock Veterans Administration Hospital. He was born in the Antioch Community on Sept. 3, 1926, to the late William Wesley Collie and Blanche Eddith Hardin Collie. Reared and educated in Malvern, he was a graduate of Malvern High School. Harold was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Fair Haven Missionary Baptist Church. Harold had a long and varied career in business. He was proprietor, barber/stylist of Service Barber Shop for many years; he attended Bebout College of Chiropractic; and was owner/operator of Collie Auto Sales.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Price Collie, to whom he was married on April 26, 1946, in Malvern; by two sons, Harold Ronnie Collie and his wife, Barbara, of Malvern, and Gary Wayne Collie and his wife, Anna, of Longview, Texas; two brothers, Morris and his wife, Sue Collie, of Malvern and Wayne and his wife, Carlene Collie, of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Stephanie Collie Boles and her husband, Darrell, Cheryl Collie Thornton and her husband, Kevin and Brian Wayne Collie and his wife, Melissa; seven great-grandchildren, Sydney, Chloe, Caleb, Shelby and Noah Thornton; and Matthew and Lucas Collie; by several nieces and nephews; and his caregivers, Rebie Block and Beverly Tippens.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of J.A. Funk Funeral Home with Brother Donis Smead officiating. Interment will follow in Big Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Boles, Bill Keith, Brian Collie, James Wilson, Richard Williams, Kevin Thornton, and J.C. Marks.
Honorary pallbearers are Harold’s fellow American Legion members.
