Janet L. McMahan
Janet Louise Gray McMahan, 77, of Hot Springs, passed away on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012. She was born Aug. 23, 1935, to David Gray and Leah Patton Gray in Sewickley, Penn. She is predeceased by her husband, Rex V. McMahan, sister, Joan Lundquist and her parents, David and Leah Gray.
Janet was a graduate of Hot Springs High School Class of 1953. She was a devoted member and involved in numerous activities at First Lutheran Church of Hot Springs. Janet also enjoyed her Bridge Club and was an ardent supporter of animal rights groups. Janet had been involved in the Miss Arkansas Pageants and served as Miss Hot Springs of 1953. Throughout her adult life she has worked for Data Keys and United Van Lines in Saginaw, Mich., and retired from JC Penney in Hot Springs, Ark.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Gary C. McMahan, of Arlington, Texas, daughter, Laura G. Darling, of Hot Springs, niece, Leah Jane Miles, of Winter Garden, Fla., sister-in- law, Clyda McMahan (Gary) Sexton, of Hot Springs, brother-in-law, Jack W. (Flo) McMahan, of Hot Springs, brother-in-law, Robert Lundquist, of Santee, Calif., and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends to numerous to mention.
Janet was a wonderful mother, wife and friend and is already greatly missed by so many of us.
Memorials should be made to First Lutheran Church of Hot Springs, Levi Hospital or to the Humane Society.
A memorial service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at First Lutheran Church on Monday at 1 p.m. A reception will follow the service.
