Thelma Masteller Vetter, 90, of Hot Springs, went to be with her Lord on Friday. She was born March 6, 1922, to George and Eunice (Monroe) Rains in St. Joseph, Mo.

Through her life, Thelma was first and foremost a godly wife and mother. The joy of her life was to serve others and tell them about Jesus.

Thelma is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Howard Rains; and her first husband, Herschel “Ben” Harold Masteller.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Vetter; a son, Rod Masteller (Linda), of Shreveport, La.; a daughter, Karen Duncan (Randy), of Hot Springs; two stepsons, Douglas Vetter (Linda), of Independence, Mo., and Thomas Vetter (Susie), of Wichita Falls, Texas; a sister, Zella Wright (Bill), of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Maxine Rains, of Port Isabelle, Texas; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and her precious dog, Taffy.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. A celebration of Thelma’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Hot Springs with the Revs. Rod Masteller, Derek Duncan and John McCallum officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Gage, Scott Gornto, Ryan Welch, Doug Vetter, Tom Vetter, Randy Duncan and Brian Oathout. Honorary pallbearers are the staff and nurses of Arkansas Hospice and the staff and residents at West Shores Senior Living Community.
