Mildred L. Hancock
DANVILLE – Mildred L. Hancock, 89, of Danville, passed away Dec. 1, 2012, at Arkansas River Valley Hospice in Russellville.
She was born Jan. 16, 1923, in Huntington, Ark., to the late James Wesley Sr. and Mary Evelyn Cockrell Stroud. She was a clerk for Arkla Gas and a homemaker. She was a member of the Danville First Baptist Church since Aug. 11, 1940. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 and a half years, E.O. “Bud” Hancock; brothers, James Wesley Stroud Jr., Robert C. Stroud, John D. Stroud; sister, Evelyn Marie Clifton.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Jim Douglas, of Clarksville; son and daughter-in-law, J.E. “Jim” and Sandy Hancock, of Hot Springs; grandchildren Neal and Kim Douglas, of Clarksville, Julie Douglas Currier, of Clarksville, Madison Bailey and Bentley James Hancock, of Hot Springs; great-grandchildren, Alex and Elizabeth Currier, MaKenzie and Morgan Douglas, of Clarksville; sister-in-law, LaMoyne Hunt Stroud, of Jacksonville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at the Danville First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Hanshaw officiating. Burial will be at Earl Ladd Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. at the church before the service.
Pallbearers include Tom May, Doug Miller, Dr. Forrest Moudy, Glen Mott, Bobby Redfern and Waymon Sides.
Honorary pallbearers include Pledger Ball, Bartley Bell, Lee Facundus and Tom Gray.
