Alvin W. Rowland
Our beloved husband, father and grandfather entered Heaven’s gate on Dec. 7, 2012. He was born to Austin Rowland and Utha (Breashears) Rowland on Nov. 12, 1937. Alvin graduated from Cutter Morning Star School in 1956 and later joined the Air Force. He was honorably discharged with a disability in 1958. Alvin married Annette Hannah Rowland in 1961.
Survivors include his wife; son, Mark A. Rowland; daughter, Shelly Rowland (Mitch) Beard; four grandchildren, Tanner (Kasey) Rowland, Kyle Rowland, William Rowland and Matt Harden, all of Hot Springs; two brothers, Doyle Rowland and Bruce Rowland, of Hot Springs; three sisters, Melissa Shatswell, of Oakdale, Calif., Fran Losey and Linda Rowland Gothard, of Hot Springs; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his parents and one brother, Larry Rowland.
Alvin was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church for several years and later became a member of Lake Hamilton Assembly of God Church for over 30 years. He was a deacon, men’s Sunday school teacher, a youth leader, musician, Royal Ranger leader, children’s church leader and occasionally a nursery worker throughout his walk with God and most importantly a devout student of God’s word. Having visited nursing homes, prisons, and hospitals, Alvin helped to spread the gospel to many.
Services will 1 p.m. today at Lake Hamilton Assembly of God Church, with the Revs. West Bennett and Jerry Fagan officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nick Rowland, Donnie Trott, Richard Trott, Tony Hannah, Brian Hannah and Alan Story.
Honorary pallbearers are Loretta Sanford and Mercy Home Health, Gentiva Health Care, Dr. Koehn and Arkansas Hospice, Lake Hamilton Assembly of God congregation, Dr. E. Stecker and staff, Dr. Tim Webb and staff, Gary Hannah, Jerry Hood, Robert Howell, Holmes Goslee Sr. and Bryan Ranson.
