Carl Edward Merriweather, 81, of Hot Springs, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Hot Springs. He was born on Aug. 11, 1931, in Lonoke County, to his parents, Labe Merriweather and Viola Burgess Merriweather. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife of 48 years, Freddie Mae Merriweather.

He married Freddie Mae Morris on Jan. 6, 1948. They had three children. He was a current resident of Hot Springs for 52 years and was employed by Safeway as a manager for 42 years. Carl was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include three children, Jerry and Sharon Merriweather, Patricia Merriweather and Larry Merriweather; three grandchildren, Molly Lee Davidson, Ty Merriweather and Nick Merriweather; two great-grandchildren, Katie Lee Ellsworth and Labe Davidson.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Gross Funeral Home.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Crestview Memorial Park.
