Rita Louise Holmes-Green, of St. Louis, passed peacefully at a local hospital on Jan. 1, 2013, following a very brief hospitalization. She was born on Dec. 9, 1942 and was the daughter of Robert and Elnora Holmes. Her brother was Robert Harold Holmes II. She was the niece of Vernon and Ollie Mae Guye who were life-long residents of Hot Springs.

Ms. Holmes attended Langston High School. As an adult, she worked for many years in the hospitality and restaurant business, including employment responsibilities in Mackinaw Island, Mich.; Ponte Vedra, Fla. and French Lick, Ind. Ms. Holmes also had interests with creative designs, fashion and culinary arts. She retired finally after 10 years of employment from General Motors in Los Angeles.

Ms. Holmes leaves to mourn her passing, her younger sister, Juanita Guye and close friends, Jacqueline Flenory-Scaife and Gwendolyn Morgan-Bronson, all formerly of Hot Springs, as well as many others.

A Memorial Celebration Service will be held in St. Louis on Saturday.

Hot Springs will be the final resting place.
