Julia B. Davis
Julia B. Davis, 94, of Hot Springs, went to be with our Lord on Jan. 19, 2013. She was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Fairfax, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ray Allen Davis; parents, Robinson C. and Pearl Meyers; seven brothers, and five sisters.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Ray Davis and wife, Barbara, of Hot Springs; granddaughter, Jennifer Winston and husband, Curtis, and great-grandson, Reese Carter Winston, of Hot Springs; granddaughter, Amanda Davis, of Harrisonburg, Va.; brother, Bob Meyers, of Fayetteville, Ark.; sisters, Frances Reagan, of Tulsa, Okla., and Margaret Copenhaver, of Sayre, Okla.
Ray and Julia lived in Oklahoma for many years operating businesses. Later, they trained and raced thoroughbred horses throughout the country, racing at Oaklawn Park every year until they retired in the early 90s. They made their permanent home in Hot Springs in 1957.
After caring for Ray during his long illness, Julia joined Hospice Home Care and cared for others.
Pallbearers will be her nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Mr. and Mrs. John Cessnum, Dr. David Jolly, Manny Fires, Diana Okurily, Kathy Lane, Bonnie Blankenship, Carmelita Smith and Zan Jordan.
Services and interment will be in Pawhuska, Okla., under the direction of Johnson’s Funeral Home, Pawhuska.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Home Care or the charity of your choice.
A special thank you goes to Arkansas Hospice to all the nurses and staff for all the kindness shown to the family and friends during this difficult time.
