'Blood moon'

A composite of six photographs shows the progression of the total lunar eclipse early Tuesday morning, with the first photo taken at 12:51 a.m. and the last 2:40 a.m. The moon was eclipsed by the Earth's shadow early Tuesday for five and half hours. The total phase of the eclipse lasted just 78 minutes. For some, the moon appeared red-orange because of all the sunsets and sunrises shimmering from Earth, earning the name "blood moon," according to The Associated Press. It was the first of four eclipses this year and the first of four total lunar eclipses this year and next. The Sentinel-Record/Mara Kuhn
