Rams blank De Queen, stay unbeaten in 5A-South baseball

DE QUEEN -- Jon Youngblood pitched five shutout innings, and Lakeside remained unbeaten in 5A-South baseball Thursday with an 8-0 win over De Queen.

Brandon Hall drove in two runs for the Rams (10-6, 6-0 in conference), the first with a double in Lakeside's four-run third. Youngblood went two for two with an RBI, Bo Ritter two for four with an RBI and Marcus Fisher one for two with two runs.

Youngblood (3-1) allowed three hits, walked three and struck out two. Fisher went the last two innings, allowing one hit and striking out four.

The Rams took the lead in the third, when Fisher singled, stole second and scored on Ritter's single. Hall doubled an out later, Youngblood followed with an RBI single and later scored on a third-strike passed ball.

Lakeside added three runs in the fourth, Fisher scoring on Chase Willingham's double. Willingham scored on Hall's groundout and Spencer Hecke on a wild pitch.

Tanner Rice reached on a fifth-inning error and scored on Fisher's sacrifice bunt.

Lakeside plays Thursday at Watson Chapel.
