Dear editor: Some questions

Dear editor:

Excellent letter by Bill Drews! There are other questions I'd like answered as well. How can the Quorum Court pass an ordinance that says we have to listen to loud, thumping "music" in our homes that makes it impossible to have a conversation, sleep or hear the television before 10 at night? I believe your right to hear that loud noise ends where my right not to hear it in my home begins!

Why does a judge sentence a thief with no legal income and a long record of crime to repay the value of stolen merchandise at $500 a month? Where does he think the money will come from? It's coming from all the things stolen from our neighborhoods and drug sales, that imposes more crime on the rest of us!

Why just refuse bonuses to IRS employees owing taxes? Why do these people even have a job there?

What happened to the statesmen in this country? Now we have lawyers making laws they'll get paid to defend or fight, laws made by lobbyists and people in positions of power for the money. Not much evidence that Americans who aren't rich matter. Want proof? I was there when national and state Realtor associations and their lobbyist saw to it there was no requirement for full disclosure of meth contamination when renting or selling residential or commercial property. No concern for anything but money, even though they heard the evidence that it can cause major health problems, especially for children, the elderly and anyone with a compromised immune system. It's politics at its lowest.

When did people decide personal responsibility is no longer needed? Why is the lack of consideration for others so prevalent? Why is it tolerated by honest people that state and local laws are making it easier for criminals to serve little, if any, time and then get turned loose on the rest of us again?

When will the good people wake up and work to stop this madness?
