Union Missionary Baptist Church, 219 Gulpha St., will hold a special music service at 6 p.m. today to support the Southwest District Choir on its trip to New Orleans for the National Baptist Convention where Kenneth G. Harris Jr. will be honored.
Harris is a 31-year member of the Arkadelphia School Board where he serves as vice chairman, member of the board of trustees and as vice chairman for Arkansas Baptist College.
The Rev. Demond Newburn, a Hot Springs native, and the St. Paul Baptist Church of Freeport, Ill., will be the special guests at 11 a.m. Sunday.
