Unitarian Universalist to have Christmas music

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Hot Springs, 100 Norwalk St., will have Joe Sturgill lead Christmas music and readings with Rebecca Ricks playing piano at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. All are invited.

Gospel Light to present Christmas musical

Gospel Light Baptist Church, 600 Garland Ave., will hold its annual Christmas musical at 6 p.m. today and at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The choir will present "What a Glorious Night!" A nursery will be provided for this free event. All are welcome to attend.

Locals pack thousands of gifts

Residents of Hot Springs and surrounding areas collected more than 38,000 shoeboxes filled with gifts for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan's Purse.

Those boxes will go toward the 2014 goal of 10 million boxes to be sent to children in need around the world. Anyone who still wishes to contribute to the boxes can "pack a box" online at http://www.samaritanspurse.org.

Christian Science Reading Room reopens

Christian Science Reading Room, 808 Central Ave., has reopened after an extensive, seven-month remodeling and redecorating by Joe Sturgill, a Hot Springs decorator. The Reading Room will be open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday-Friday. Church services will be held at the rear of the Reading Room at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 10:30 a.m. Sundays. All are welcome.
