Dear editor:
I've noticed that right-wing columnists and pundits love to use the terms "liberal elite" and "academic elite" in their writings, always in a negative sense. The dictionary defines the word "elite" as "the best of a class" or the "socially superior part of society." And yet, one never sees the term "conservative elite!" Perhaps they can't qualify?
We've long heard the old cliché "A picture is worth a thousand words." Why, then, must the news media display an obviously clear photo, or video, then proceed to use "a thousand words" to explain it?
A good Christmas to all.
