Dear editor: Trash budget suggestions

Dear editor:

You recently had an article in the paper about the county judge not allowing deficits to carry over to the next year. Specifically, the article cited the Garland County environmental (garbage) budget.

Two thoughts come to mind. The county does not have an active curbside recycle program. If we did, the overcharges for garbage dump usage would be eliminated or greatly reduced. If county residents opted out of the recycle program, they should be charged a surcharge for the garbage pickup. The city has a successful curbside recycle program, why can't we?

Second, if all garbage cans were to be placed on only one side of the road, the garbage trucks would only have to drive around a designated route once instead of twice. They drive my neighborhood twice to access the garbage cans! That would save a ton of fuel charges.
