Lady Troy cooks Hamburg

WHITE HALL -- Hot Springs' senior girls crushed Hamburg in the first half and breezed to a 41-21 victory Saturday for a 2-0 record in White Hall's Relyance Classic at Bert Honey Gymnasium.

The Lady Trojans led 21-2 after the first quarter and 29-4 at halftime. Hamburg outscored Hot Springs 11-3 in the fourth quarter, making the final score more respectable.

Kiki Hunter led with 17 points, Tiaunna Watkins adding 11 and Berniezha Tidwell nine with two points each from Matia Burkes and Holly Eichelberger.

Coming off a 47-29 victory over Fordyce, the Lady Trojans improved to 6-2. Hot Springs faces Centerpoint at 1 p.m. Saturday in the first round of the Spa City Shootout at Bank of the Ozarks Arena.

Jessieville Classic

JESSIEVILLE -- Desani Neal scored 15 points, leading a balanced Jessieville offensive attack, as the Lions beat Wonderview 56-45 Saturday for a 2-0 record in their holiday classic.

With eight points each from Hunter Daley, Jonny Jordan, Steven Benson and Dylan Anderson, the Lions improved to 9-3 before the holiday break. Jessieville led 29-19 at halftime and 44-28 after three quarters against the Class 1A Daredevils.

Daley scored 23 points, just below his season average, as Jessieville defeated Nemo Vista 50-37 Friday night.

The Lions outscored the Redhawks in every quarter but the third, which ended 36-27. Daley, a junior, has a high game of 38.

Jessieville's senior girls went 0-2 in the tournament against last year's Class 1A finalists, conference rivals from Conway County. Arkansas signee Bailey Zimmerman scored 24 points for the second-straight game as Wonderview (Hattieville) downed the Lady Lions 47-39 Saturday. The Lady Daredevils jumped ahead 18-8 and led 30-18 at halftime, holding off a Jessieville third-quarter rally within 38-31.

Sophomore post Kellie Lampo scored 17 points for Jessieville, which fell 42-40 to defending 1A champion Nemo Vista (Center Ridge) on Friday. Madison Hair led Jessieville with 15 points but missed a three-point atempt at the buzzer, Jessieville outscoring the Lady Redhawks by five in the fourth quarter.

Kirby finished 1-3 in the classic, the Trojans beating Nemo Vista 59-48 Saturday after losing 58-52 to Wonderview in overtime. Carson Smith scored 20 points for Kirby against Nemo Vista and 13 against Wonderview, Logan Foshee leading the Trojans Friday night with 21 points. Larry Beck, with 19 points, led Wonderview against Kirby.

Nemo Vista's girls defeated Kirby 41-32 in Saturday's opener.

Fountain Lake Classic

FOUNTAIN LAKE -- Bailey Womack personally outscored the losing team and Fountain Lake held Haskell Harmony Grove to two points in three separate quarters of a 40-14 victory Saturday at Bass Gymnasium.

Fountain Lake, improving to 6-3 overall in the first game of its holiday classic, led 8-2 after the first quarter and 17-4 at halftime, outscoring the Lady Cardinals 14-2 in the fourth quarter.

Womack scored 17 points and Amie Westerman eight for Fountain Lake, which plays Perryville at home Monday. Cutter Morning Star plays Harmony Grove in the first two games, action starting at 4 p.m.
