Support group for persons with PSP, CBD or MSA

A support group has been organized for patients, family members and caregivers affected by Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD) and Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). This group will meet from 1-2:30 p.m. Monday at the Alzheimer's Arkansas Building, 201 Markham Center Drive, Little Rock, telephone 501-224-0021 or 800-689-6090. Thereafter, meetings will be the fourth Thursday of every month. This is the only support group in Arkansas that is focused on these rare neurodegenerative brain diseases. Patients, family members and caregivers in the Hot Springs and surrounding area are encouraged to attend.

GCHS announces holiday closings

Garland County Historical Society will be closed Dec. 24-26, and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1-2.

Make reservations for PEO Founders' luncheon

There will be a celebration of PEO Founders' Day Jan. 17 at Hot Springs Country Club, 101 Country Club Drive. All members of chapters in Arkadelphia, Malvern, Hot Springs and Hot Springs Village are welcome. Any unaffiliated members in the area are welcome. Gather at 11:30 a.m. with lunch at noon.

The price is $16.25, which includes tax and gratuity. The menu will include a house salad with choice of dressing, champagne chicken with creamy champagne sauce, rice, green beans, roll, cobbler, tea or coffee. Habitat names new procurement director

Wagstaff

Garland County Habitat for Humanity recently named Cindy Wagstaff as procurement director. Her job responsibilities will include researching and writing grants, securing donations for the ReStore and speaking to local community organizations.

Wagstaff is the past executive director of Hot Springs Village Area Chamber of Commerce and former advertising director of LaVilla News. She and her husband, Bob Wagstaff, reside with their son is Hot Springs Village.
