Celebration of Republican Women held at country club

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- A Celebration of Republican Women, a joint venture of the Garland County and Hot Springs Village Republican women's clubs, was recently held at Hot Springs Country Club.

About 200 women attended the luncheon and fashion show by Accessory Gallery of Hot Springs. A silent auction of beautiful gift baskets and a raffle of gifts and services were all part of the entertainment.

The featured speaker was Nancy Hendricks, who presented a first-person history of former U.S. Sen. Hattie Caraway of Arkansas, the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate in 1932.

The fashion show models were Republican candidates or wives of candidates, and included Betsey Arey, wife of Jeff Arey, candidate for Saline County judge; Becky Arguello, candidate for Garland County Justice of the Peace, District 5; Debbie Cozart, wife of Bruce Cozart, candidate for state House District 24; Debra Ramsey, wife of Bob Ramsey, candidate for Saline County assessor; Laurie Rushing, candidate for state House District 25; Betty Ann Sample, wife of Bill Sample, candidate for state Senate District 14; Shannon Sharp, candidate for Garland County assessor; and Sharon Westerman, wife of Bruce Westerman, candidate for the 4th Congressional District.
