HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- Rotary Club of Hot Springs Village recently installed new officers as Lee Ann Branch, past president, passed the gavel to incoming President Jeff Hollansworth.

Branch and Hollansworth, both of Hot Springs Village, are well known for their civic involvement as well as their many contributions to the community, a news release said.

Hollansworth, son of John and Jane Hollansworth, also of Hot Springs Village, announced that the HSV Rotary Club was named the No. 1 club in its district for attendance.

"Our club is a collection of community leaders, business professionals, and volunteers who want to make a difference. With the motto 'Service above Self,' we look for ways to express this sentiment through our fundraising and giving initiatives. We have outstanding speakers who inspire and enlighten. All interested people may consider this a personal invitation to visit one of our weekly meetings held at Good Sam's on Thursday mornings at 7 a.m.," Hollansworth said.

The club also has a new board of directors for the upcoming year, including John Atherton, who chairs the Connections Committee. He oversees personal contact with members who are experiencing significant events in their lives. Atherton makes it possible for other Rotarians to find out about news, or to let members and their families know that they are not alone in times of illness or other difficulties, the release said.

Atherton says his committee could also help with something as seemingly simple as needing a ride to a Rotary club meeting or event.

Another director, Steve Wright, handles fundraising. Rotary provides assistance to worthy projects around the corner and around the world, and Wright makes sure the process is fun, the release said.

"The year 2013 was a banner year for fundraising, with a successful bus trip to Kansas City, and Cruisefest 2014 which exceeded our expectations. Looking ahead, we have a bus trip heading to Fort Worth in October that is already filled. In addition, we are offering two other travel opportunities -- Europefest 2015, which is a cruise on the Danube through eastern Europe, and Cruisefest 2015, a cruise of the eastern Caribbean with ports of call in St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Puerto Rico, and Haiti," Wright said.

Bookings are still available for both trips. Contact any Rotarian or call Lori McMinn at Vacation Valet at 501-984-6191 for more information.

A new event this year will be a trap shoot competition at Mountain Valley Sportsmen's Association on Oct. 25.
