Necessary to identify race?

Re article on front page of the Wednesday, July 23, The Sentinel-Record, "Two juveniles charged."

Why was it necessary to say one was black and one white? I understand that sometimes you must indicate "male and female," but even that isn't always necessary. But to distinguish the race of each sounds very racist to me.

The same God created us all in His image and I can find nowhere in His Word where He indicates a difference. Also, the Bible does not tell us which race Adam and Eve were. I just think the wording of such article should be a little more considerate.

I'm sure we all have sung the song, "red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight."

P.S. I have dear friends of both races. I also have bi-racial nieces and nephews who are precious.
