A local man was arrested Monday morning on a felony warrant stemming from allegations he had sexual relations with an underage girl over a two-year period.

Deonte Ja-von Kidd, 19, who lists an address of 400 Pinewood St., was taken into custody around 8:30 a.m. at the Hot Springs Police Department and charged with sexual indecency with a child, punishable by up to six years in prison.

Kidd was later released on $2,500 bond and is set to appear Aug. 12 in Garland County District Court.

According to the affidavit, on June 13, a 14-year-old female was interviewed at the Cooper Anthony Mercy Child Advocacy Center and reportedly disclosed she had sex with Kidd multiple times at his residence.

She said the sexual encounters began when she was only 12 years old and continued until June 9 when her parents discovered the relationship after they found Facebook messages between the victim and Kidd on the victim's cellphone.

The messages reportedly included discussion of sexual acts and had sexually explicit details and the messages were confirmed to have occurred between the victim's Facebook and Kidd's Facebook private messaging.

Based on the evidence and the interview, a warrant was issued for Kidd last Friday and he came in to the police department Monday and was charged without incident.

• A fourth teenage suspect was arrested Monday afternoon in connection with a burglary earlier this month at Lakeside High School where numerous items were stolen, but later returned to the school.

The suspect, 15, of Hot Springs, was identified by police and taken into custody around 2:30 p.m. at the police department and charged with felony counts of theft of property more than $5,000 and commercial burglary, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Three alleged accomplices, ages 15, 16 and 17, were taken into custody Friday on the same charges and all four were being held without bond. The three arrested Friday are reportedly set to appear Aug. 8 in Garland County Juvenile Court and the suspect arrested Monday is set to appear Aug. 22.

According to the affidavit, on July 19, around 9 p.m., four teens reportedly entered the Lakeside High School building, located at 2871 Malvern Ave., through an unlocked rear door. Three of the teens were later identified as students when school officials reviewed security footage of the incident.

It was noted the suspects attempted to shut off the cameras by turning off the district server.

The suspects entered the building and checked each room, taking food out of the cafeteria and numerous cameras, video equipment and batteries out of the new digital broadcasting classroom.

It was noted the suspects were finally seen leaving the building around 1 a.m. Saturday with the total amount of property taken estimated at $5,138.

Last Thursday, a school administrator contacted Hot Springs police to report that sometime during the night two unknown suspects were seen returning the stolen items to the school along with a note.

The note reportedly stated, "We are sorry. Here are all the things we took. Again. Seriously sorry. Here is our share."
