Junior Ram netters triumph

MAUMELLE -- Freshman Bianca Rector earned all-state honors for fifth-place Fountain Lake in the Class 4A girls' golf tournament here Tuesday at Country Club of Arkansas.

Rector, with a 91, qualified for the overall state championship Oct. 16. Lady Cobra senior Megan Youngblood finished her high-school career with a 95, Brittany Fritz contributing a 113 for a three-person score of 299.

Arkansas Baptist, shooting 240, won by 15 strokes over Central Arkansas Christian.

Volleyball:

Magnolia-Lakeside

Lakeside, playing at home, improved its 5A-South volleyball record to 5-0 with Tuesday's 3-0 victory over Magnolia.

Erica Hendrix recorded seven aces and eight digs in the 25-23, 25-16, 25-17 victory. Lane Davis totaled 19 assists and 10 digs while Shelby Little had nine digs and five kills for the Lady Rams, 10-4 overall and 5-0 in conference.

Lakeside's junior varsity (7-2, 5-0) won 27-25, 25-16 over Magnolia.

Lakeside's varsity, junior varsity and ninth-grade teams play at Hot Springs on Thursday, action starting at 4:30 p.m.

Lakeside-Malvern

MALVERN -- Hannah Whorton had eight service points, five assists and two kills as Lakeside's ninth-grade volleyball team defeated Malvern 2-1 Monday night.

Cameron Witt had seven service points and Kayleigh Corjay six for the Lady Rams, Whorton with two aces. Gaylynn Green added four kills and Macie Hendrix two, Green and Kailey Bausch each notching 10 digs. Hendrix had four assists.

Lakeside, third in Saturday's Jessieville Invitational, took an 8-1 season record, 4-0 in 5A-South, into Tuesday's home match with Magnolia.

The 7-1 Lady Rams won 2-1 over Malvern, Lindsey Davis with four aces among 15 service points and Jaiden Thomas adding 10 service points for Lakeside.

CCMC golf tourney

set Oct. 13 at HSCC

More than 100 players are expected in the Cooperative Christian Ministries & Clinic Golf Classic Oct. 13 at Hot Springs Country Club.

Following lunch at 11:30 a.m. is a 1 p.m. shotgun start for the four-person scramble on the Park course. The top three teams receive prizes along with players driving closest to the pin and with longest and straighest drives on selected holes.

Entry fee is $130 per player ($520 per foursome) and due Monday. Checks should be made payable to Cooperative Christian Ministries & Clinic Golf Classic and returned to 133 Arbor St., Hot Springs, AR 71901.
