New pastor comes to Gum Springs UMC

MOUNTAIN PINE -- The Mountain Pine Gum Springs United Methodist Church announced that Jo Cromwell has been appointed lay pastor.

Cromwell has experience in teaching home Bible studies and Sunday school classes for adults and adolescents, organizing and leading conferences and retreats and training as a lay servant in the United Methodist Church. She has ministered for women's groups and filled in for pastors when they were away. She is also a licensed professional counselor with seven years experience.

Gum Springs UMC was founded in 1884, and Cromwell said she is excited to lead as lay pastor of the church.

"I look forward to working with these warm and loving members to develop new membership, vision and outreach to the community. As a church, we believe we can make a difference in the community."

Gum Springs UMC, located at 208 Gum Springs Road, offers services on Sundays with worship at 9:30 a.m., fellowship at 10:30 a.m., and Sunday school at 11 a.m.
