Children can create music of their own at Jazz in the Streets

The Hot Springs Jazz Society has added Emergent Arts to "Jazz in the Streets," the free outdoor concert on Saturday during JazzFest at the skywalk on Broadway Street.

Emergent Arts will host an activity booth where children of all ages will be able to create Popsicle stick harmonicas, paper plate tambourines or bottle cap castanets.

"We are thrilled to have this addition to the outdoor concert, hoping to encourage the younger music enthusiasts to perhaps create a little music of their own while enjoying the sunshine and jazz," says Shirley Chauvin, vice president of HSJS.

The outdoor concert begins at 11 a.m. with a Dizzy 7, the Tri-Tones at noon, the Arkansas Jazz Orchestra at 1 p.m., Anything That Moves at 2 p.m., the University of Arkansas in Monticello Jazz Band at 3 p.m., and "Dancing in the Streets" at 4 p.m. featuring TwiceSax.
