McRae, Pullin pace Lakeside golf sweep

Cameron McRae and Rai Pullin took medalist honors as Lakeside's golf teams swept Cabot on Monday at Hot Springs Country Club.

McRae's 32 and Chandler Cain's 35 helped the Rams to a 142 total and 25-stroke victory. Caleb Lloyd added a 37 and Cade Freeland a 38. Jacob Lott's 40 paced Cabot.

Pullin shot a 42 as Lakeside's girls won by eight strokes, Alicia Kalinowsky following at 49 and Haleigh Homer 50 for Lakeside (141). Cabot's Danielle O'Shields shot 47.

Volleyball: LH-El Dorado

EL DORADO -- Sophie Curtis had four aces, 11 kills and six digs as Lake Hamilton defeated El Dorado 3-0 in 6A-South volleyball here Tuesday.

Sophomore Megan Sliger posted five aces, four kills and two digs for the Lady Wolves (8-4 overall, 2-1 conference) in the 25-17, 25-10, 25-13 victory. April Smith added four aces and five digs and Madisson Williams two aces and two digs for Lake Hamilton, which plays conference rival Benton at home Thursday.

Lake Hamilton's junior varsity won 25-5, 25-8, Taylor Fuller with five kills and Paige Hoover with two aces and eight assists for the Lady Wolves.

Fountain Lake-Ashdown

ASHDOWN -- Pearl Lee served 12 aces and added nine kills, helping Fountain Lake open 4A-7 play with a 25-9, 25-15, 25-21 sweep of host Ashdown Tuesday night.

Lee totaled 12 points, Alissa Ashborn leading the Lady Cobras (7-2 overall) with 10. Carlee Danell had a team-high 10 kills.

Moran Stone's eight points led Fountain Lake's junior varsity to a 25-16, 25-22 victory , and the junior Lady Cobras won 25-12, 25-14 behind Scout Martin's 12 points and Elizabeth Bairett's 10.

Fountain Lake plays Malvern Thursday at home.

Lakeside JH-Jessieville

JESSIEVILLE -- Hannah Whorton had two aces among 21 service points and recorded six assists for the unbeaten Lakeside ninth-grade volleyball team against Jessieville Monday night.

Sophie Fleischner had eight service points (two aces) and Cameron Witt five kills from 13 attacks in the Lady Rams' 25-1, 25-10 victory. Kailey Bausch added seven digs for Lakeside (6-0 overall, 3-0 conference).

Lindsey Davis and Halynn Reeves each had three aces as Lakeside's eighth-grade team (4-1) won 25-9, 25-22. Davis finished with 11 service points and Reeves five. MacKenzie Marshall had six points for Jessieville.

Lakeside's eighth- and ninth-grade teams travel to Fountain Lake on Monday for nonconference matches.

* Benton Harmony Grove won 3-2 against Mountain Pine on Monday. Hailee Crosby had nine aces and four kills and Kaitlyn Miller eight aces and one kill for Mountain Pine, Mia Naples with three digs for the Lady Red Devils.

UA women golfers

win S.C. tournament

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Arkansas' nationally ranked women's golf team withstood turbulent weather conditions to win its opening match of the fall season here Tuesday.

The Razorbacks, ranked seventh and ninth in different polls, closed at 279_845, eight strokes ahead of No. 3 UCLA and 11 better than No. 2 UCLA in the Powerade Cougar Classic.

Weather delayed play Monday and forced Tuesday's start to a shotgun. Teams were cleared from the course for a lightning delay near the middle of the round and rain suspended play with teams in the final four holes.

Arkansas junior Regina Plascenia tied her second-best collegiate finish with a fifth-place tie, matching her career-best three-round score of 208. Sophomore Summar Roachell finished ninth, a career high, at 69_211, equaling Plascencia's team-low final round. Junior All-American Gabriela Lopez tied for 13th at 70_213, transfer Samantha Marks tied for 15th at 71_214 and freshman Alan Uriell 48th at 76_223.

Belz leads A-Tech golf

in Brickyard Crossing

INDIANAPOLIS -- Junior Brian Belz, of Hot Springs, had Arkansas Tech's best closing round in the Brickyard Crossing Invitational here Tuesday.

A former Lakeside High player, Belz finished with a 3-over 75, giving him a weather-shortened two-round total of 152 and in a 34th-place tie.

The Wonder Boys (615) finished 11th out of 13 teams, Central Oklahoma (578) and Grand Valley State's Jack Rider (140) taking medalist honors by three strokes.

HSU offers gameday

shuttles for football

ARKADELPHIA -- Henderson State University is offering gameday shuttles to increase parking options for Reddie football fans this season.

Three hours prior to kickoff, CADC SCAT buses will stage at the corner of 12th and Wilson streets on main campus, allowing fans to utilize lots near Smith Hall and around main campus. Traveling down 12th Street, the free shuttles will drop fans in front of Wells Center, on M.H. Russell Drive, and at the main gate at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium.

Once the game begins, buses will stage near the main gate of the stadium and return fans to the 12th and Wilson location until one hour after the game. Buses will be marked with Reddie Gameday Shuttle signage.

The Reddies' home opener is 7 p.m. Thursday against Southeastern Oklahoma on the CBS Sports Network.
