Bismarck Bar-B-Queen Pageant Saturday

BISMARCK -- The Bismarck Bar-B-Queen Pageant will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday in Bismarck High School Auditorium.

The pageant is the forerunner to the annual Bismarck Bar-B-Q Bash, which will be held Sept. 27 in downtown Bismarck. Pageant winners will have the opportunity to ride in the Bash Parade, which will take place at 10 a.m. Sept. 27, according to Lavonda Leonard, president of the Bismarck Business Association, which hosts the pageant, along with several sponsors.

The entry fee is $25, with an optional $10 additional fee to enter the Miss Photogenic competition. Entry forms can be obtained from the association's Facebook page and dropped off to Leonard at the Bismarck Barber Shop, along with checks made payable to the Bismarck Business Association.

Categories include Miss Tiny Bar-B-Queen, 3-18 months; Miss Baby Bar-B-Queen, 19 months to 3 years old; Miss Tiny Tot Bar-B-Queen, 4-6 years old; Missy Tiny Bar-B-Queen, 7-9 years old; Miss Little Bar-B-Queen, 10-12 years old; Miss Junior Bar-B-Queen, 13-15 years old; and Miss Bismarck Bar-B-Queen, 16-18 years old.

Contest attire can be either a pageant dress or a semi-formal dress.

All title winners will receive a crown, sash, trophy and flowers. Miss Bismarck will receive a $75 prize, and the contest will include a question-and-answer session.

All runners-up and participants will receive a trophy, and there will be one photogenic winner per category.
