Mildred Smith, left, recently presented to Garland County Historical Society representative Orval Allbritton an original 1910 caricature of William G. "Billy" Maurice, who built the first Maurice Bathhouse in 1890 and the one currently on Bathhouse Row in 1912.The drawing had been displayed in the bathhouse for many years. Smith and her husband, Van, were stockholders in the Maurice and worked there from the late 1940s through the mid-1960s. In the ink drawing, Maurice holds a model of the Maurice Bathhouse. To his left is another bath house Maurice had an interest in -- the Red Spring Bathhouse in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Maurice (1859-1927) was a dedicated Mason and wears a Masonic emblem in his lapel, and was the first president, in 1916, of Hot Springs National Park Rotary Club. Submitted photo
