Hot Springs High School won the drawing of $250 worth of art supplies from Dick Blick recently at the Thea Foundation's ninth annual sidewalk chalk event, Thea Paves the Way.

The event was held Sept. 13 on the front lawn of the William J. Clinton Presidential Library, where dozens of school, family, church and community groups shared in the creative community effort to create vibrant chalk art to cover the sidewalks.

Thea Paves the Way began in 2005 as one of the foundation's first outreach events to engage students, teachers, families, community groups and others in an exciting collaborative art project. The event now draws more than 500 participants, who also enjoy music, outdoor recreation and entertainment on the grounds.

The Thea Foundation awards $80,000 annually in six scholarship categories to 30 graduating seniors from all corners of the state. Since the foundation's inception, more than $2 million has been distributed to 248 students to pursue their dreams of higher education.

Currently, 186 matching scholarships have been given through THEA's education partnerships helping to defray out-of-pocket expenses and reduce student debt.
