PEARCY -- The Lake Hamilton High School Library hosted the first Teen Reads meeting Sept. 3, during the high school lunch periods.

Teen Reads is a book club in which any student or faculty member at the high school and junior high can participate. The club reads several high-interest selections per year.

"This program encourages students and faculty to dive in to reading and participate in open discussions about literacy," said Lori Bush, high school media specialist.

More than 100 members of the Teen Reads Book Club attended the first meeting.

For each book selection, the club meets two or three times for discussion. Each member receives a book free of charge.

The first selection this year is, "The Maze Runner" by James Dashner. This book has been converted into a movie that will be released to theaters this month.
