Rutherford to speak at Henderson

ARKADELPHIA -- Henderson State University will observe Constitution Day on Tuesday with a presentation by James L. "Skip" Rutherford, dean of the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service.

The program, entitled "The Desegregation of Little Rock Central High School: America's Greatest Crisis Since the Civil War," will be held in the Garrison Center Lecture Hall at 12:30 p.m.

The event is open to the public.

The Clinton School opened in 2005 and is located on the grounds of the William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park in Little Rock. Rutherford supervised the planning and construction of the Clinton Presidential Center and Park over seven years. He served as founding president of the William J. Clinton Foundation and coordinated the 40th anniversary commemoration of the crisis at Little Rock Central High School.

Rutherford is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he received the journalism department's first Distinguished Alumnus Award. He has an extensive private sector background in communications and public relations and has served as a visiting professor at the University of Arkansas and other colleges in the state.
