APSRC to host Arkansas gubernatorial candidates

The annual Arkansas Public School Resource Fall Conference, which will be held on Tuesday at the Hot Springs Convention Center, will host a panel with two of this year's gubernatorial candidates.

Educators will have the opportunity to hear from Asa Hutchinson, a Republican, and Mike Ross, a Democrat, about their vision for K-12 public education in Arkansas during the opening session from 8:30-9:45 a.m.

The panel will be moderated by Rex Nelson, a columnist for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and president of Arkansas' Independent Colleges & Universities. Each candidate will have an opportunity to speak about their vision for Arkansas education and take questions from the audience. Last year's panel featured Republican candidates Curtis Coleman and Debra Hobbs.

The conference will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue to 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The conference will host educators from across the state.

The theme of this year's conference is "Evaluation, Technology, and Effectiveness: Driving Public Education." The keynote speech will be presented by Jason Lange, the creator of BloomBoard. All Arkansas Educators will be using BloomBoard this year as part of the new teacher evaluation requirements.
