Kehner carries OBU past East Central

ARKADELPHIA -- Former Glen Rose standout Steven Kehner would have made a fantasy-league owner proud Saturday night, scoring a career-high four touchdowns as Ouachita Baptist defeated East Central 41-20 at Cliff Harris Stadium.

Kehner carried 38 times for 160 yards, also career highs, as the Tigers, 2-0 overall and in the Great American Conference, rushed 78 times for 350 yards. OBU finished with 515 yards, holding East Central to 88 on the ground. The Tigers were seven of eight in the red zone and 12 of 20 on third-down conversions.

OBU set the tone early with a 14-play, 80-yard drive that Kehner went over from the one. The Tigers converted senior defensive back Zack Mitchell's first of three interceptions, which he returned 16 yards, into a 14-0 lead, Kehner again scoring from the one.

Kehner scored from four yards out, making it 21-7, after senior cornerback Jeremy Small's interception at the East Central 37. Mitchell's second interception triggered a 93-yard drive, taking 7:24 off the clock, that made it 31-14, Kehner going two yards for his fourth touchdown after Kiehl Frazier passed to Drew White and Evian Hill for third-down conversions.

Frazier passed 31 yards to sophomore Ke'Vontae Pope on third and 20 as the Tigers drove for a fourth-quarter touchdown, sophomore Brandon Marks scoring from nine yards out. Matt Ehasz' second field goal of the game made it 41-20, and freshman A.J. Burton's interception snuffed out East Central's last threat.

Frazier, starting his second game at quarterback for the Tigers, completed 11 of 20 passes for 165 yards and kept 11 times for 105 yards. Marks added 91 yards on the ground.

OBU travels to Durant, Okla., for Saturday's 6 p.m. conference game against 1-2 Southeastern Oklahoma. East Central dropped to 2-1.
