Hickory Hill Park in Hot Springs will close its 2014 season with a gospel music concert today. The concert will begin at 7 p.m., featuring Velvet Ridge Singers.

Velvet Ridge Singers was formed in 1972, by the Cox brothers, Clois and Dwight "Bubba," of Bald Knob. Clois has ministered with his testimony of God's power and deliverance to many veterans. Dwight is a singer and songwriter and has written many gospel music songs. He puts his compassion and commitment of his heart for winning souls into his music. Monica, the newest member, joined the group two years ago. She has been a soloist in their church for several years.

Also appearing, will be Messengers Of Song from Caddo Valley. The duo was formed in 2001 after individual music ministries. Teresa was with The Messengers of Hope and The Heritage Quartet. Doug was formerly with The Shining Thru Trio. In 2004, the duet had a song called "Mercy Called Me By Name" that went to No. 19 on the nationwide charts. They have been nominated for awards including Duet of the Year by the Texas Gospel Music Artists Association in 2012. They have recorded numerous projects.

The host group, The Hawkins Family of Hot Springs, will also be singing during the concert.

Hickory Hill Park has an outdoor amphitheater seating 500 guests with a wooden stage. Buddy's Barnyard Café offers soft drinks, coffee, nachos, caramel apples and more. Restrooms are available. Parking and admission are free. Lawn chairs or blankets should be brought for seating in the amphitheater.

Directions to the park: from downtown Hot Springs turn right on Park Avenue at the fountain and drive approximately five miles. At the junction of Highway 7 north, turn left and travel approximately one mile, watch for the sign, and turn right on Bryant Road.
