For April's Gallery Walk, Legacy Fine Art Gallery will welcome back internationally acclaimed artist Hooshang Khorasani.

The artist's career began at age 7, when his first drawing was published. Throughout high school and college, his passion remained tightly focused. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in college, he worked for 12 years as an award-winning graphic designer and illustrator of children's books.

Since 1984, Khorasani has supported himself solely through his art. He has lived and worked on the Mediterranean coast of Spain and also has studios in Louisiana and Orange County, California.

His work reflects a bold, contemporary style. He paints in acrylic and mixed media, equally comfortable with a brush or palette knife. Pieces are created on canvas, paper and board.

Khorasani's work has been shown in museums including Taos Art Museum, New Mexico, Yellowstone Art Museum, Billings, Mont., Museum of Science and Industry, Tampa, Fla., Fort Collins Museum of Art, Colorado, and Louisiana State Museum, Baton Rouge.

About his process, the artist said in a news release, "I paint in layers, adding texture, but it's as if the paint itself takes part in the creative process. I'm the tour guide on the journey, but there's another participant -- my hands are virtually channeled into a universal source of energy. And that energy, in turn, pulses through my brushes and tools."

Two recurring themes in his work are stunning florals and equine paintings. Visitors can expect to see both at Legacy. In the equine paintings, viewers will sense a dynamic energy, as if the galloping horses seek to break free of the canvas and begin a stampede.

He said of his art, "Indeed, the common theme for all my works is energy -- energy in nature and the world around me, in moving colors that show power, in the inner life of my subjects. I seek to unveil the mysteries and beauties of the universe."
