Lakeside's Garner leads ASU golfers in Florida

LAKE WORTH, Fla. -- Junior Seth Garner of Lakeside High posted the second-best score by an Arkansas State male golfer this season here last weekend.

Garner tied for seventh in Florida Atlantic University's Slomin Autism Championship, his 54-hole score of 215 matching his career best. He had rounds of 70, 72 and 73.

Tanner Napier tied for 17th (71-75-73_219) as the Red Wolves placed 10th among 20 teams at Fountains Country Club.

"I was happy about the way Seth and Tanner played," said ASU head coach Steve Johnson. "This was a really good field with some of the better players we've faced this season, so for Seth to finish in the top 10 and Tanner in the top 20 again this season shows the high-caliber players they are."

ASU defends its title in the Red Wolves Intercollegiate Saturday and Sunday at RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro.
