The 7 p.m. Thursday Garland County Audubon Society meeting will feature "Identifying the Birds in Your Back Yard," by member LeVerne Bissell. The program is designed to encourage new birdwatchers to develop bird watching skills in their home environments and challenge experienced birders to improve their bird identification skills by sight and song.

Bissell is a retired educator who has traveled to birding hotspots in United States and abroad. He began keeping bird lists in 1963, and his lists include 275 species from Southeast Asia. He has used his back yard birding presentation as a teaching tool for seniors and students. He serves as webmaster and educator for the GC Audubon Society.

Audubon meetings are held September-June on the second Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3819 Central Ave. All who enjoy birds and bird watching are welcome.
