Student involved in wreck improves, account set up

PEARCY -- A Lake Hamilton High School student involved in a four-vehicle wreck Monday morning was in intensive care after undergoing surgery, but improving Tuesday, according to a posting on the school district's Facebook page.

The Arkansas State Police said that the crash occurred around 7 a.m. Monday when a vehicle driven by the student, Kelvin Echegoyen, of Hot Springs, which was westbound on Highway 70 west, crossed the turn lane into the eastbound lanes, struck another vehicle and impacted two others.

An account titled "Medical Fund for Kevin S. Cruz" has been set up at Bank of the Ozarks for Echegoyen's hospital expenses, the Facebook posting said. Donations can be made at any Bank of the Ozarks location and deposit slips are available at the LHSD administration building for the rest of the week.
