HSU STEM Center to host coding camp

ARKADELPHIA -- The STEM Center at Henderson State University will host "Reddie, Set, Design," a coding camp for children, in July.

Students who will have completed grades K-5 will attend on July 20, and grades 6-8 on July 21. Each day is limited to 30 participants.

Betty Ramsey, STEM Center director, said the camp facilitator is Joel Spenser, who works with Code.org.

"This is an excellent opportunity to introduce your child to coding, app building and computer science," Ramsey said. "With our governor's emphasis on computer science and the skills needed for the future workforce, this camp is a great beginning."

To register, visit http://www.hsu.edu/stemcenter, click on Professional Development Opportunities and register for the appropriate age group by June 15.

The cost is $30 payable to The STEM Center at HSU. Participants will eat lunch in Henderson's dining facility.
