Former state rep to address GC Democrats

Eugene McKinley Shelby, M.D., will speak at Garland County Democratic Headquarters, 608 W. Grand, at noon Monday. His topic is "Medicaid: Past, Present and Future."

Shelby served as Garland County coroner. He was elected representative of the Arkansas House and served two terms.

He received an A.B. degree from Princeton University and M.D. at the University of Arkansas School of Medicine, Little Rock. Postgraduate work included a flexible internship at the John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. He is licensed in the state of Arkansas and has been board certified as Diplomat, American Board of Emergency Medicine since 1988.

He has practiced emergency medicine and is currently with MedExpress Urgent Care Centers based in Canonsburg, Pa.

Shelby is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and President, Arkansas Chapter; American Medical Association, member, Board of Trustees; Arkansas Medical Society, member, Board of Trustees.

Rushfork Cemetery Decoration Day coming

Decoration Day will be held at 1:30 p.m. April 26 at Rushfork Cemetery.

Donations for maintenance costs may be mailed to Wayne Watkins, 199 Painter Lane, Hot Springs, AR 71913. Last year, the upkeep exceeded the funds that were available.
