Jessica Burks gave the following testimonial about Fitness in Training by Monda:

"They say every journey begins with a single step and, frankly, I had not taken enough steps in a very long time. In January of 2014, I was not happy with the way I was feeling so I decided that my first step on my journey to becoming 'FIT' would begin at an all-women gym. My goal was simple: I wanted to enjoy my life, my family and my beautiful hometown.

"The first few steps were incredibly difficult and the excuses were easy. However, once I started getting into the routine of working out, I started to see the results I desired and that was, and continues to be, my ongoing motivation. One of the biggest things that kept me going was the friends I made at FIT who encouraged me to continue and helped build my confidence.

"After eight months of routinely working out, I had lost weight, inches and body fat. I was gaining the lifestyle I had desired long before that first step ever happened. I was able to play baseball with my son, Coil, and ride bikes with my daughter Kinsley. I was hooked! FIT was my second home. Mentally, physically and spiritually my life began to change.

"Although I was seeing results and headed in the right direction, I felt I was missing something. I spoke with my fitness instructor, Monda, and she pointed me in the direction of my diet. I knew that was the problem, but who wants to diet?! The first three letters in diet are "die," and that is how I felt about it. But I quickly learned that it is a 'lifestyle change,' not a 'diet.' I started making better choices in the foods I chose for my family and me. I started carrying snacks in my purse and packing a lunch on my trips away from home. I didn't want to be stranded and end up in a fast food drive-through. One of my favorite mantras has become, 'You can't expect to look or feel like a million bucks if you eat from the dollar menu.'

"The following eight months (a total of 16 months since my first step), I accomplished goals I thought I could never reach. I lost a total of 23 pounds, 19.5 inches and 12 percent body fat. My goal is to continue living a healthy lifestyle and encourage others. I know I can do this with the help of my amazing husband, Matt, the wonderful family we built, friends, and 'FIT family.'

"If I could offer a single piece of advice to lead you to your first step, it would be to remember the journey to a better you is 80 percent nutrition, 20 percent exercise. I wish my hometown and its incredible citizens the best of luck in taking their first step to FITness."
