Athletics right call

Dear editor:

Steven Bank apparently believes Lake Hamilton School District does not pass muster because athletics, not academics, are the priority. It is true that our athletic success and superior facilities have, and will continue to be, the envy of all other school districts within the county, and I'm proud of that.

When the millage increase was proposed a couple of years ago, I felt LH officials were very candid and honest that athletics would be the priority in the district moving forward, along with sports-related facilities. I was all for it, as were a majority of voters who overwhelmingly passed the millage.

A school district can't be the best at everything, you have to prioritize. We have chosen Wolf athletics, and I believe it is the right decision. There is no feeling like the community coming together as one on a Friday night at Wolf Stadium, or in the future at what I like to call "Wolf SuperPlex" which is currently under construction.

I'll leave Steven Bank and our other critics with a great quote from an old coach (I believe it was Barry Switzer) -- "Ten thousand people never paid to watch a spelling bee." Go Wolves!
