'Hope and healing'

Dear editor:

St. Luke's Episcopal Church hosted a nondenominational Community Service of Hope and Healing in the face of tragedies in our community as a way of bringing our community together in strength, forgiveness and unity.

Our wonderful rector, C.B. Baker, in his "Time for Hope and Healing" column, said "tragedies and the cruel responses have caused much pain in our community" and he hoped this coming together in the community would help with the healing process. As a member of this congregation, I am often moved by our rector's reaching out in love and compassion, to help his fellow man and to make this world a better place.

Is that not what Christianity is all about?
