Lady Rams win volleyball opener

Lakeside won two matches from visiting Arkadelphia in the Lady Rams' volleyball opener Monday.

Mady Rottinghaus recorded seven kills and Lane Davis four ces in the varsity's 25-12, 25-13, 25-15 triumph. Shelby Little recorded 17 assists and Erica Hendrix eight digs for Lakeside.

The Lady Rams return to action Thursday against visiting Bryant.

Volleyball: Perryville-CMS

Cutter Morning Star's volleyball team snapped a five-set losing streak to start the season, downing Perryville 16-25, 12-25, 25-17, 25-16, 15-6 in their 3A-South opener Tuesday night at Eagle Fieldhouse.

Emily Simmons led the Lady Eagles with five kills, Cherokee Fields adding three kills. CMS (1-1, 1-0) got it done mostly serving, Kaylee Cameron hitting five aces with three each from Christian Hamilton and Fields.

The Lady Eagles also rallied for a junior-varsity win, 19-25, 25-17, 15-9.

CMS continues conference play against visiting LISA Academy on Thursday.

Women's shooting clinic

Mountain Valley Sportsman's Association's next instructional shooting clinic for beginner-level women is 9 a.m. Sept. 5.

Firearm safety is taught in a safe environment and non-competitive atmosphere.

Church-sponsored golf

set Oct. 10 at Glenwood

Hot Springs Baptist Church's annual charity golf tournament is Oct. 10 at Glenwood Country Club.

Lunch and registration, at noon, precedes the shotgun start to the four-man scramble at 1 p.m. Cost is $55 per player or $220 per team. Sponsorships are available from $100 to $500.
