PEARCY -- Lake Hamilton High School student Sidney Galt recently completed the fifth national certificate in the Microsoft Office Specialist program.

Microsoft Office Specialist is a program that helps demonstrate that users have the skills needed to get the most out of Office by earning a certification in a specific Office program. Holding a MOS certification can earn an entry-level business employee as much as $16,000 more in annual salary than un-certified peers

Galt earned the certification in five areas of Microsoft Office 2010 -- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.

MOS certification is the premier credential chosen by individuals seeking to validate their skills and advance their careers. The credentials are useful for students interested in working in Microsoft-based information technology departments, as well as office professionals looking to advance in supervisory or management positions. The certifications are available at multiple skill levels and for several different versions of the program.

Lake Hamilton School District Superintendent Steve Anderson presented Galt with her certificate during her Computer Business Applications class.
