The Hot Springs High School Navy JROTC competed against 11 Army JROTC units from throughout Arkansas on Jan. 31 in a Land Navigation and Ruck Sack March competition near Lake Degray. The event was sponsored by the college Army ROTC unit at Henderson State University and Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. The Ruck Sack March competition involved a team of four Cadets each carrying a 25 pound pack over a 5K course. The Hot Springs rucksack team, from left, Nehemiah Dangerfield, Stephone Moss, Jeffrey Wallace and Greg Letbetter took home the first place trophy for the second year in a row. The team was coached by Chief Petty Officer Brad Hodges. The event is designed to enhance the confidence of the JROTC Cadets in their physical fitness, leadership and land navigation skills.
