HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- The Hot Springs Village Property Owners' Association Board of Directors will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Ouachita Building in the Ponce de Leon Center, 1101 DeSoto Blvd.

New business items to be considered include the Mount Carmel Phase III developers agreement, appointment to the Common Property and Forest Committee, appointment to the Public Works Committee, appointment to the Lakes Committee, 2015 Dynamic Pricing Structure for nonmember golf rates, and proposed family and nonmember twilight golf rates.

Coronado Fitness Center members can attend a demonstration of the Drums Alive Golden Beats exercise program presented by the Oaklawn Center on Aging at 3 p.m. today at Coronado Fitness Center, 160 Ponderosa Lane.

Golden Beats is designed for seniors and promotes physical, social, emotional and cognitive health. It uses stability balls and drumsticks to provide participants a workout through drumming and dancing.

Village Players to hold

meeting, auditions

The Hot Springs Village players will hold a board meeting at 2 p.m. Jan. 26 in the Ouachita Building at Ponce de Leon Center.

The groups next general meeting will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 3

Auditions for the production of "Hollywood Hillbillies" will be held Feb. 7-8 in Woodlands Auditorium, and the production is scheduled for April 10-12.

The Players Play Reading Committee will meet at 2 p.m. Friday in the Hot Springs Village Chamber of Commerce conference room, just outside the West Gate. The group will evaluate and report on scripts, which may become possible candidates for performance in the Village in the future.

The number of scripts will be limited and persons interested in making a submission should attend the meeting.

UCA professor speaks

on historical fiction

John Vanderslice, associate professor, Department of Writing at the University of Central Arkansas, will speak on Historical Fiction at 1 p.m. Jan 26 at Coronado Community Center, 150 Ponderosa Lane. The cost is $3.

Vanderslice teaches in the Master of Fine Arts program at UCA and serves as associate editor of Toad Suck Review magazine. His new book of short stories, "Island Fog," has been named by Library Journal as one of the top 15 Indie Fiction titles of 2014.
