Inside the food deserts

Dear editor:

Have you heard of food deserts? In case you haven't, they are in large- and mid-sized cities all across the country, almost always run by Democrats. Places like Detroit would be a prime example, though it's not alone. It happens when extreme left-wing Democrats get the reins of power in a city. Business goes where it feels welcome, even food stores, and over time they abandoned these cities with their crazy left-wing rhetoric, rules and regulations.

Washington, D.C., would be another example, in the neighborhoods that surround the monuments and glitter. So maybe it was the idea that while they were going to be living high on the hog in the White House, Michelle Obama knew many of their constituents in the surrounding neighborhoods, unless they took long rides to the suburbs, were subsisting on beanie wienies and cheese crackers, whatever they could get at convenience and liquor stores. This was especially ironic since it was Democrats that primarily supported the food stamp programs and such, and then the recipients of these programs had nowhere to go to get decent food.

You can see how these Democrats, not McDonald's, were, therefore, also responsible for much of the obesity problems that plague many of our citizens.

So I can at least applaud Michelle for coming to her senses and turning to Wal-Mart, previously one of the Democrats boogie men, who agreed to put a number of Wal-Mart local markets in the D.C. area so the residents there could have some decent food choices, Wal-Mart to the rescue.

What did Wal-Mart get for their generosity? They were taken off the Democrats boogie man list, they got a reprieve, but as we know, the Democrats always need a boogie man, so next up to the plate, the Koch brothers. The new poster boogie men for the Democrats to berate.

So consider this. It's been shown that in any community with a nearby Wal-Mart, because of the savings seen by those citizens, it's as if each one of them were given a $2,000 a year raise. We also know the Koch brothers, through Koch Industries and their technologies, are maybe the most important reason, certainly not Obama, for why gas prices have been falling. Tell me again why I'm supposed to hate these great American success stories?
